1. Tron: Ares (Oct 10, 2025)
If you liked Tron: Legacy, this one is built to pull you back in. Tron: Ares revives the high-concept cyber world with action, neon visuals, and of course, that classic digital frontier feel. Jared Leto plays the title character — a dangerous program stepping from the digital realm into something much more real. For anyone into sci-fi action, this is one to see in theaters (preferably IMAX).
2. After the Hunt (Oct 10, 2025)
This is a shift from blockbuster spectacle to something more grounded. Directed by Luca Guadagnino, and starring Julia Roberts, Andrew Garfield, and Ayo Edebiri, After the Hunt looks poised to explore moral complexity and relationships under pressure. When you want a movie that makes you think and feel, this will be the one.
3. A House of Dynamite (Oct 24, 2025)
Kathryn Bigelow returns with something tense: a political thriller for Netflix set inside the White House. Think missile threats, ethical dilemmas, power struggles. If you’re into films like All the President’s Men or Zero Dark Thirty, this could be your next obsession.
4. Black Phone 2 (Oct 17, 2025)
Horror fans, stand by. The original Black Phone shook up the genre with its chilling atmosphere and suspense. The sequel promises more of that – creepier, more intense. If you like jump scares and tension that lingers after credits, mark your calendar.
5. Good Fortune (Oct 17, 2025)
A lighter piece sandwiched between heavier fare — Good Fortune is lighter, probably with laughs, emotional beats, maybe a romantic thread. With Aziz Ansari involved, expect humor mixed with heart. It’s perfect if you need an emotional breather during this season of thrillers.
6. Mortal Kombat II (Oct 24, 2025)
This one is for the adrenaline junkies. Over-the-top action, graphic fight sequences, and fan-favorite characters returning (or being reimagined). If you loved the first Mortal Kombat reboot, this sequel is bound to turn up the volume — literally and figuratively.
7. Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere (Oct 24, 2025)
Not all big fall movies need big explosions. This one is about music, life, and transformation. The story digs into Bruce Springsteen’s rise around the time of Nebraska, a pivotal moment in his career. For folks who love biopics or are curious about the person behind the legend, this is going to resonate deeply.
8. Wicked: For Good (Nov 21, 2025)
Musicals deserve to be seen loud and proud in theaters. Wicked: For Good is the long-awaited continuation of the Wicked story — Elphaba, Glinda, and the rest of Oz’s complicated magic. If you loved the first act, this sequel picks up threads you were waiting on. Fans, get ready to sing. Loudly.
9. The Running Man (Nov 14, 2025)
A remake with a twist: this time, it’s less about 80s action tropes, and more about modern urgency — media, surveillance, desperation. Glen Powell leads in a version that looks to ground the story in today’s fears, especially around what we watch, what we share, and who has power. If you like tension-filled dystopia, this’s for you.
10. Predator: Badlands (Nov 7, 2025)
The Predator franchise returns, and this time it’s called Badlands. The film introduces Elle Fanning, among others, and aims to blend that classic hunter-versus-hunted suspense with something new. If you’ve ever felt the thrill of being stalked in the dark (on screen, of course), this will deliver.
What Sets This Fall Apart
Each of these films has one or more of the following going for it: big names, strong premises, genre variety, and a timing that hits just right. Fall has always been a prime season for movies that aren’t just summer popcorn — ones that linger in your mind, get talked about, maybe even nominate for awards.
Also, notice how many of these films reflect what people are feeling in 2025: anxiety about tech and power (Tron: Ares, The Running Man), nostalgia and identity (Springsteen, Wicked), and tension between safety and danger (Black Phone 2, Predator: Badlands). It’s a mirror to the times.
Final Thoughts
If I had to pick three to definitely see in theaters, I’d go with Tron: Ares for scale, A House of Dynamite for intensity, and Wicked: For Good for that sonic, emotional payoff.
Don’t be shy to mix it up — scary with sweet, loud with soft — that’s what fall movie-season is all about.
Watchlist Ready? Popcorn on, tickets booked, and enjoy — there are some great films ahead.
